What Every Seller Should Know
Life changes fast—and sometimes, that means thinking about a new home in a new part of the city (or even the country). Before diving into your home search, it’s important to consider when you’ll be selling your current home. Timing can be tricky, especially with the ups and downs of today’s economy. While there’s no one-size-fits-all answer, there are a few key things to keep in mind.
Is There Ever a “Wrong” Time to Sell?
In a hot market, not really! I’ve even helped clients close a sale on New Year’s Day—anything’s possible. That said, the market does tend to quiet down during the winter holidays. With so much going on in November and December, both buyers and sellers are often less active. Fewer buyers mean less traffic and possibly fewer offers.
So When Is the Best Time?
Most experts agree: spring is prime time. In Southern California, that might mean as early as mid-January. The holidays are behind us, school’s not out yet, and homes—especially yards—tend to show their best. You’ll likely see more buyers out and about, but also more competition. That’s why having a strong marketing strategy is key—and our team would love to help you craft one.
